Low Irrigation Landscape Proposals

PROJECT "GREEN" ABSTRACT
COLORS AS THE COMMON THREAD
Each of the phases has been identified with a combination of Mediterranean species that have been chosen according to the color of their leaves and flowers. People walking through its streets will be able to easily find their way around and identify each of its areas while enjoying the variety of colors that nature offers.
PATTERNS AS A DESIGN GUIDELINE
Starting from the geometries present in the current landscape, a series of planting patterns are proposed that provide variety and identity to each of the intervention areas. These patterns are made up of the plantation of Mediterranean species and the inert materials that come from the crushing of local mineral materials.
DROUGHT, TEMPERATURE AND PRECIPITATION
In Murcia the drought lasts more than four months and the intensity of the water deficiency is significant. What principally determines hydric deficit is the relation between temperature and precipitation: an increase in temperature causes greater evapotranspiration, while a decrease in precipitation makes water less available to the roots.
LOW-IRRIGATION LANDSCAPE
The use of organic padding based on pruning remains (mulch) and mineral gravel allows the retention of water in the soil, maintaining humidity and thus reducing the need for irrigation. As opposed to low-efficiency sprinkler irrigation, drip irrigation is proposed in the plantation areas during the first two years to ensure proper growth.
