Communication 22 – Clarification of Wrong Information

COMMUNICATION 22
CLARIFICATION ON WRONG
INFORMATION – TREES REMOVAL
2024Dear owners,

Following the communication 19 sent on 01.02.2024, we are contacting you again to clarify the wrong and misleading information that the neighbours have been receiving through different media in the last few days.

As indicated, work was scheduled to begin yesterday, Monday 5.02.2024, on the removal of trees near the buildings that present health and safety risks for various reasons.

The trees included in the report were marked with red and white tape. All trees included in the report are attached to buildings. In other limited cases, the development of the tree can affect the safety of owners and visitors, as it has an inadequate formation which is detrimental to its future stability.

The trees marked with red and white tape in the HR perimeter area are not included in the reports submitted. That is why the trees on the perimeter will not be touched. The reason why they were marked more than 2 months ago is because of the ongoing review of the security system (cameras). Some trees on the perimeter block the view of the cameras and the Community is considering moving cameras or installing a new thermal camera system. The priority is security, but without damaging trees that do not cause any problems to the community.

Yesterday morning, the Guardia Civil came to the HRGR Admin office requesting information about a denuncia that HRGR owners had lodged against the Community for the removal of trees. The HRGR Admin team are in contact with SEPRONA in order to provide all the necessary documentation.

Clarifications:
In HR there are a total of 2.876 trees distributed between the 8 phases (private areas of the General Community) and the EUCC areas (roads, roundabouts, perimeter, etc.).The 96 trees planned for removal due to health and safety risks account for 3% of the total number of trees in HR.  Murcia City Council (the municipality where the resort is located) has been consulted, and the technicians have confirmed that as this is a private area (community of owners), and as it does not involve listed species, there is no legislation in this respect (no trees are listed either in the PGOU or in the catalogue of monumental and singular trees of the Region of Murcia).A report has been drawn up specifying the problems of each tree to be felled and justifying the work (root problems, etc.).Most of the trees are Tipuanas (as well as jacaranda mimosifolia, Schinus molle, Parkinsonia aculeata). Trees which, due to their proximity to buildings, cause problems for the stability of building foundations caused by their roots. In other cases the development of the tree may affect the safety of owners and visitors, as they are inadequately trained, which is detrimental to their future stability. The number of trees to be removed will be replaced by other species more adapted to the area and with a location close to but far enough away from the current point to avoid the same problem in the future.EXAMPLE OF TREES THAT ARE

IN THE REMOVAL  PROJECT
The proximity to the buildings is not even one metre in the cases shown below. In one of the cases the trunk and therefore the roots are attached to the gas meter box. There are cases where the trees are supported by wooden stakes.

Please, may we refer you once again to the reports per phase sent last 1.02.2024 in communication 19.In the link below you can also find a legal note referring to different articles about the gardens in HR and the environmental studies.
 LEGAL NOTE

THE TREES OF THE HRGR PERIMETER FENCE WILL NOT BE TOUCHED.

THE TREES TO BE REMOVED ARE CLOSEST TO THE BUILDINGS, ARE THE ONES INCLUDED IN THE REPORTS, AND ARE A HEALTH AND SAFETY RISK FOR THE NEIGHBOURS.
Thank you,
Kind regards,
