Due to the termination of the telecommunication contract with the company AVATEL on 8.06.2024, several meetings were held with AVATEL as well as with a new national company called EXCOM to negotiate and find the best value for money offer for the owners of HRGR.

After the corresponding analysis of the proposals received and the services included, the General Meeting decided to renew the contract with AVATEL for the next 12 months (between June 2024 and May 2025). You can find more information in the minutes of the Extraordinary General Meeting of the GC of HRGR held on 18.04.2024 and sent to all owners afterwards.

The new agreement includes the following services:

  • 600MG internet (fibre optic)
  • TV Spanish channels (DTT) plus foreign channels (various nationalities).
  • Internal telephone for landline-to-landline calls within the complex and between PW Resorts.

The renegotiation of conditions and the new contract will result in savings in the annual budget for this budget line in both the General Community (GC) and the Urban Development Entity (EUCC).

The following table shows the forecast expenditure at 31.12.2024 considering the new contract with AVATEL compared to the approved budget for 2024 and the expected savings both in the GC and by the EUCC as a whole.

The table below shows a reminder of the evolution of internet speed (megabytes contracted) over the years from 2011 to the current date.

TECHNICAL ASPECTS OF THE CONTRACTED SERVICE

You will only receive the full 600mb if you are connected to the router via an ethernet cable. This is true for all telecom providers regardless of the company providing the service, or the country you are in.

Each ROUTER can transmit on 2.4 GHz frequency, 5.0 GHz frequency or both depending on the specifications of the ROUTER device.
Both have the same passwords unless you have changed one.
Both work, but only the 5G setting is capable of 600MB.

The differences between being connected on one frequency or the other are listed below.
2.4 GHz:
– Range: It has a longer range, which means that the signal can reach further and better penetrate walls and other obstacles.
– Interference: It is more prone to interference because many devices (such as microwaves, cordless phones and other ROUTERS) use this frequency.
– Speed: Offers lower speeds compared to the 5 GHz band. Ideal for internet browsing and social networking.
5.0 GHz
– Range: It has a shorter range, so the signal does not reach as far and does not pass through obstacles as well as 2.4 GHz.
– Interference: Less prone to interference due to fewer devices using this frequency.

– Speed: Offers higher speeds, making it ideal for bandwidth-intensive activities such as HD video streaming and online gaming.

In summary, if you need a faster connection and you are close to the ROUTER, the 5.0 GHz band is the best choice. If you need a signal that goes further and through obstacles, the 2.4 GHz band is more suitable.

With 5G WIFI you will still have much faster internet than before with the old contract. The speed depends on several factors.

  1. How many elements are connected and using the WIFI network at the same time.
  2. The age of your phone, laptop, etc.
  3. The distance you are from the router. Inside your flat you should get a higher speed than if you go out on the terrace.
  4. The channel that the router uses (CHN 36, 40, 44 and 48 are best for 5G). If you have good computer skills, this is easy to change. Otherwise, we recommend that you contact AVATEL via their email roldan@avatel.es and ask them to change the channel remotely.
  5. If you use a VPN (Virtual Private Network), you will still get good download speeds, but remember that the VPN sends your Internet connection through a secondary server, so you will lose some speed.

If you test your internet speed using an application such as ANALITI or OOKLA, remember to disconnect anything else that is using the WIFI in your apartment, turn off your VPN (if you are using it) and test.

5G WIFI CONNECTION WITH VPN ON

5G WIFI CONNECTION WITH VPN OFF

Most people who have been contacted for megabyte checks so far are getting between 250MB and 350MB with 5G WIFI.

ETHERNET CABLE CONNECTION

Each test performed with the ethernet cable connection gets more than 600MB.

If you do not get a speed equal to or higher than the 50MB of the previous contract, please check the information provided above, and try again. You can also contact AVATEL at roldan@avatel.es

If you have any questions regarding the technical part of this communication, please contact Phase 5A President Chris Elliott at pp5a@hrgradmin.com
